You can start an examination only for existing appointments. In other words, you will need to have a patient and a related appointment before you are able to start an examination.
Let us start an examination from the Planner. Tap on the Planner icon on the navigation menu where you will be shown the appointments scheduled for the selected date. Tap on the name of the patient whose examination you want to start.
You will be shown a screen where you can see the details of the patient. You can start the examination by clicking on either of the "Begin" button shown in the right-hand side panel below. Once you hit "Begin" you will be prompted to check the details of the patient via a pop-up message.
Depending on the type of examination, the next screen will present a relevant consent form. Once you have completed the consent form, tap the "Begin" button on the top right-hand side of the screen.
The examination looks very similar to a camera screen. You can make changes to the white balance (WB), ISO and Exposure (brightness icon) with the controls at the top of the screen. Recommended values are as follows:
- Exposure 1/100
- ISO 100
- WB 4500
To ensure the correct orientation of the pictures and videos you have taken, the screen includes an arrow above the “Video” button. Since the Tympa System is designed to be handled in landscape mode when an examination is taken place, please make sure that the arrow is pointing “upwards” when holding the system in landscape mode. If the arrows are pointing in the incorrect direction, simply tilt the device until the arrow is correct.
You can select extra information about the images you are taking by selecting "Left Ear" and "Right Ear" from the picker at the bottom of the page. The media you are able to capture are either videos or still images (photos). If you are using the device for the first time you may get some notifications requiring you to give permissions for the app to save data (videos/photos) to the device. Please accept and note that you may need to capture the video/photo again.
The app supports the following voice commands while on the camera view:
- Photos:
- “Capture a photo now”“
- “Capture image now”
- "Capture a picture now”
- “Take a photo now”
- “Take a picture now”
- Videos:
- “Start video now"
- “Start recording now”
- “Stop recording now”
- “Stop video now”
After completing the examination, you can click in the "Finish” button in the camera view. This will take you to a summary of the procedure. First you will be shown the images and videos for the Left Ear and then the Right Ear. You can even look at the still images and play the videos from these summary screens. If any of the images/videos are not suitable, you can tap on the bin icon and remove them.
Please ensure that the device is connected to WiFi, otherwise the media will not be autoloaded and you may get an error or warning message.
Once you have reviewed the images tap on the "Finish” button in the summary screen. This will take you to a screen with next steps. Please note that the photos and video will start automatically uploading to the TympaHealth cloud. You can either "Resume" the examination in case you have not finished or mark the appointment as complete.
If the Tympa System is not able to connect to the network, the media may not be able to be uploaded automatically. You can trigger a manual upload by clicking on the "Upload media" button. You will see some notifications about the media being uploaded (one per picture or video). If the media has been uploaded previously, hitting this button will send a notification saying that there is no media to be sent to the TympaHealth cloud.
